2 Important Team Rules
24-Hour Rule
If you are going to miss practice for any reason, a parent must email Coach Wagner or Coach Stephanik 24-hours prior to the practice start time. Practice start times are when you get on the bus during the week (3:00PM) or 9:00 AM for weekends. If you miss more than ONE practice per week due to unexcused absences, you will not participate in the race that weekend.
Excused Absences Include:
- Family Emergencies
- Doctors Appointments
- Funerals or Wakes
Examples of NOT Excused Absences Include:
- Extracurricular Haverford Activities (Robotics, Service Learning, Notables, Play, and Non-credit Haverford Clubs)
- Non-Haverford Activities (Club Sports, Sporting Events, All Non-related Haverford Activities)
The reason we have the 24-hour Rule is because we have limited time at the river. We have to prepare in advance for practices and races. It is hard to make race and practice line-ups if you are not going to be there. Saturday practices before a race are the most important, because this is a day that we will practice race plans and go over strategy.
If you DO NOT participate in at least 80% of the practices, you will not receive an athletic credit.
The 24 hour rule also applies to getting picked up after practice on weekdays and not riding the bus back to campus. If you are not going to ride the bus back to campus all season it must be cleared by Coach Stephanik.

3-Strike Rule
The 3-strike rule is in reference to the bus to and from practice. Good behavior is a necessity when traveling to and from campus. If you misbehave on the bus to the point that warrants discipline, you get 1 strike. If you get 3 strikes you are no longer allowed to ride the bus.
Examples of Misbehavior:
- Foul Langauge after being warned
- Fighting (verbal and physical)
- Throwing objects in the bus or out the windows
- Insubordination towards a coach or the bus driver
